I know where you are coming from as I am allergic to cats and certain dogs. That is one reason I got into doodles vs other types. I went to an AKC dog show to fish out which dogs I like and which ones I had a reaction to. For instance, I looked at the Pomeranian and although I love the fluff coat, I walked away sneezy and watery-eyed!
What I have come to learn is that there are actually multiple allergens that can affect sufferers. There is a myth going around that an allergy sufferer should get a curly doodle. While there may a be percentage of validity, that is not entirely true.
The three enemies...dander, saliva, fur. The one problem is that all dogs have this. The upside is that you should be able to find one that does not trigger you, but do you know which of these allergens is your enemy? Have you asked your doctor for an allergy test?
Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles are not hypoallergenic. Yes I said it. If you want hypoallergenic, then get a Poodle. Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles have a percentage of both parent breeds. Well duh, isn't that the point of a doodle? So what can you do to move closer to hypoallergenic?
1. Look for a puppy that has more poodle such as an F1b, F1BB, F2b, or F2bb.
2. Talk to your Allergy Doctor and get his input.
3. Understand that even higher percentage poodle breedings can produce puppies with strong characteristics of the other breed.
